Person preparing pizza with cheese and tomato sauce

Microgreen Pizza

Microgreens taste fantastic when added with pizza. Not only are they healthy, but their concentrated flavor in their small leaves makes them a perfect garnish.

However, cooking microgreens can lower the nutritional value, so the best way to prepare microgreens for a pizza are to apply them afterwards. This recipe includes a recommended flavorful way to add them as a garnish.

Ingredients

  • Pizza dough, either store bought or homemade, with the desired amount
  • Grated mozzarella cheese, enough to cover the pizza dough
  • Tomato sauce, enough to cover the pizza dough
  • Enough microgreens to thinly cover the pizza evenly (we recommend Basil or Daikon Radish)
  • Splash of olive oil
  • Splash of lemon juice
  • Sprinkle of Parmesan cheese

Toppings such as mushrooms, pepperoni, or olives may be added as desired.

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 450°F.
  • Roll out the pizza dough and place it on a lined baking sheet.
  • Spread out the tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese evenly on the pizza dough and add any desired toppings.
  • Bake for 10-15 minutes.
  • While the pizza bakes, begin to prepare the microgreens in a separate bowl drizzled with olive oil, lemon juice, and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
  • Once the pizza has finished baking, spread the microgreens over the pizza.
  • Optionally, the pizza may be additionally garnished with basil microgreens separately.
